Navigating UL and CSA Standards for Flexible Heaters Used in Industrial Equipment
Most electrical products go through some product safety testing well before they are released to the market. These tests are especially important as flexible heaters can potentially become a fire and electrical shock hazard if they are not designed properly. Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTL) have established strict standards for flammability requirements and electrical safety, developing these for a wide range of industries and products, including those specific to heating devices.

If your custom flexible heater needs to be UL certified, the materials used to construct the heater must be UL certified. And if they are not, there is a path to obtaining the UL approval; however, it can be months and thousands of dollars for just one design.
