Electronics Engineer/Designer

This position will work with the sales team and other internal engineering resources to design, prototype, test and move into production custom battery packs for many different applications. The person chosen for this position will be involved in all phases of electronics engineering. The desired candidate will have demonstrated experience in circuit schematic and PCB creation, electrical programming software, the creation of requirements, specifications, electronic subsystem designs, and the verification of performance. The candidate will also work with the team to transfer the design to manufacturing and for continuing product maintenance overall project management. This position will reside in the manufacturing and engineering facility south of Boston and will work closely with a highly qualified and motivated team of engineers and sales professionals. The candidate will be a multi-disciplinary engineer with experience in some or all the following areas:

  • DC/DC Power Supply Design
  • Advanced analog design techniques- planning and implementation of discrete circuits supporting voltages of all kinds of ranges
  • Electrical, mechanical and environmental testing
  • Embedded Controllers
  • Wire harness and electrical connector requirements and design
  • C Programing language
  • Expertise on operation lab equipment: Electronic power supplies and loads, oscilloscopes, function generators

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with internal and external customers to define requirements, identify risks, and develop specifications.
  • Design, build, and test of custom battery packs for military, medical and industrial applications.
  • Support electronic design for batteries, chargers, power systems as part of a cross functional development team.
  • Create/coordinate system diagrams, schematic capture, simulation, board layout, firmware requirements, and electronic requirements and specifications.
  • Selection of COTS components where appropriate, maintenance of Bill of Materials including selection of new components and replacement of obsolete parts
  • Derivation, testing and validation of electrical and controls requirements
  • Assist with system integration and testing including novel robotic platforms
  • Work with cross-functional engineering team including mechanical, controls, software, quality and program management
  • Be effective working on challenging fast paced projects in both independent and team environments
  • Develop custom software and firmware for microcontrollers.
  • Guide remote engineering resources with design reviews and tasking.
  • Perform engineering calculations, measurements and analysis.
  • Develop and execute test requirements for product characterization and verification.

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or ECE or related field with minimum of 3 years of industry experience
  • Experience with battery systems including BMS, charging and pack design desired
  • Experience with ECAD tools for schematic capture and board layout.
  • Experience with Low Power Microcontrollers, including Atmel, Analog Devices, Seiko and Texas Instruments.

ISO Coordinator

Epec LLC is looking for an ISO Coordinator to help guide and coordinate quality efforts and initiatives in our manufacturing environment. This person will work with our teams on ISO activities, quality compliance, audit development, and more.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate ISO 9001: 2015 activities.
  • The Quality Coordinator is responsible for assuring in-process product quality, and compliance to existing regulations (FDA QSR: Quality System Regulation, ISO: International Standards, Divisional Policies, Divisional and Site procedures, GMP: Good Manufacturing Practices).
  • Ensure compliance to existing policies and procedures.
  • Periodically inspect and calibrate auditing tools.
  • Assist in the development of audit plans, audit schedules, and reports.
  • Perform quality audits as well as develop auditing/testing parameters.
  • Conform to company personnel, safety, quality and housekeeping policies, procedures and practices.
  • Generate reports on quality related data (NCs, Holds, etc.) as needed.
  • Participate on teams working on improvements to the quality system and continuous improvement projects.
  • Support of complaint investigations, audits (internal and external), etc.
  • Perform specific departmental tasks such as audit preparation, records management, compliant investigation as required.
  • Responsible for Ensuring training to Controlled documents and ensuring new procedures are reviewed by correct employees and training is documented correctly.
  • Ensure compliance to company policies/standards regarding Environmental, Safety and Health and quality.
  • Generate Corrective Actions and fill out customer supplied documentation where required.
  • This position is required to assure compliance of Company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures (including knowledge of all standards, government occupational health and environmental regulations and statutes related to the site).

Quality Control Inspector

The Quality Control Inspector (QCI) is responsible for all quality activities related to the inspection/verification of new orders and repeat orders with changes for shipment from Epec, LLC. The inspector will verify product meets customer requirements by performing random audits on new orders and repeat orders with changes available for shipment from Epec, LLC. The QCI must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings (prints). The QCI must be experienced with mechanical inspection techniques using a variety of metrologies such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, optical comparators, etc. He/she must work closely with the Vice President of Operations and engineering.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible in verifying product conformance, reconcile final inspection documentation to meet delivery schedules.
  • Identify nonconforming products when they are submitted and assure product is kept segregated from conforming material.
  • Support Quality Control Manager and QC Technician as requested (screening parts, helping with rework).
  • Become a Certified IPC-A-600 IPC Specialist.
  • Observe safety and security procedures; determine appropriate action beyond guideline; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly.
  • Other job duties may be assigned.

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ability to occasionally lift or move objects that are up to 25 lbs.

Assembly Technician

Epec Engineered Technologies is currently looking for an Assembler with soldering experience who enjoys a fast pace work environment. The primary responsibility of the Assembler (ASSB) is day-to-day production and actual manufacturing of products or components. This person assembles components or products according to established procedures. This position will report to the Manufacturing Manager.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform simple electro-mechanical assembly of products according to specifications, work instructions, job travelers and customer orders.
  • Solder simple parts & wiring.
  • Responsible for building required quality into the product as generally defined by drawings and specs.
  • Perform testing, programming, and simple sorting on products. Package products for shipment, according to specifications.
  • Adheres to all standard shop practices.
  • Perform simple calibration and adjustments using testing instruments.
  • Assist with developing assembly and test procedures to promote production of quality products.
  • Monitor the functioning of all equipment and report any problems or substandard condition to the manager.
  • Ensure all logbooks and other record keeping methods are maintained according to standard operating procedures.
  • Assist at all levels of pack builds.
  • Order and stock materials and supplies to avoid materials shortages.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance procedures to avoid any breakdowns and failures.
  • Follow work processes to ensure consistent approach and quality products.
  • Maintain work area clean, safe and orderly.
  • Other job duties may be assigned.

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work either seated or standing for 8-hour workday.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Use moderate physical effort in the use of hand tools, wrenches, etc.
  • Carry weights of up to 50 lbs. occasionally for short periods.
