Epec Engineered Technologies Acquires Industry Leading Heavy/Extreme Copper PCB Manufacturer UPE, Inc.

[January 21, 2013: New Bedford, MA] Leading build to print electronics manufacturer, Epec Engineered Technologies today announced the acquisition of Heavy/Extreme copper PCB manufacturer, UPE Inc. UPE was founded in 1990 to serve the power electronics industry with locations in Cleveland, OH and Ottawa, Canada. They focused on manufacturing printed circuits boards with heavy copper from 5 ounces up to 200 ounces.

"Extreme copper technology is a growing part of the PCB industry and UPE is at the leading edge of that technology," said Ed McMahon, CEO of Epec. "With Epec's considerable hi-tech manufacturing investment in both the US and Asia, we are well positioned to improve on the technology that UPE has pioneered."

David Basista, President of UPE noted that "Epec has invested in the right equipment like LDI, Autoclave Lamination Technology and state of the art copper plating lines. This investment will allow us to offer the highest quality product while maintaining cost effectiveness for our customers."
