EC Fans & Drives Raises the Bar for Residential Ventilation

[September 5, 2012: New Bedford MA] EC Fans & Drives, a division of Epec Engineered Technologies, has recently launched its new EXR series of high efficiency, electronically commutated motors. Early indications are that the EXR series motor has comprehensively rewritten the benchmark for energy efficient residential ventilation.

The Energy Star requirements for efficient residential ventilation systems currently demand that a residential ventilation fan moves at least 2.8 cubic feet per minute of air per Watt of electrical energy consumed by the fan. If that minimum standard is not achieved, a residential ventilation product will not be awarded the Energy Star mark of approval.

Independent testing on a residential ventilation system fitted with EC Fans & Drives' new EXR50 electric motor indicated that the EXR50 powered system was in fact exceeding the Energy Star minimum airflow per Watt of energy requirement by more than 500%.
