Celebrating 65 Years of Manufacturing Excellence
America's Oldest. A History of Innovation.
Being in business for 65 years usually means that you were right a few more times than you were wrong. As I reflect on our 65th anniversary and our success, I am brought back to a saying from one of the founders of Western philosophy, Socrates. In essence, he said that the secret of change (or success in business), is being able to focus all of you energy, not on fighting to keep the old, but on building the new. No business ever lasted 65 years by building the same exact products, or going to market the same exact way, or by using the same exact business model. But there are plenty of examples of companies who didn't survive trying to keep things the same.
Today at Epec, the customer comes first, and everything we do must be put through that filter. Whether it is developing e-commerce platforms to make it easier to work with us, or creating a NPI (new product introduction) process that helps our customers get to market faster, or the other 10 new projects we have in process, we must focus on building the new. By doing that every day, and by always making the customer our top priority, we plan on being here for another 65 years and then some.
Our History Timeline
Epec, a pioneer in the electronics industry, is established. Electralab officially merged with Printed Electronics Corporation, to become Electralab Printed Electronic Corp (EPEC).
IPC, The Association of Connecting Electronic Industries, was founded by Richard Zens, Printed Electronics Corp; Al Hughes, Electralab; Robert Swiggett, Photocircuits; William McGinley, Methode; and Carl Clayton, Tingstol.
Epec PCB in Apollo 11
Epec, a recognized technology innovator, delivers printed circuit boards for the Apollo 11 spaceflight, which landed the first humans, Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, Jr., on Earth's Moon.
Acquisition by KleinPartners
KleinPartners Capital Corp acquires Epec and, under Ed McMahon's leadership, begins implementing the Company's transformation into global engineered products technology Company.
Acquisition of Beaver Brook
Epec acquires Beaver Brook Circuits, a successful New England PCB manufacturer. Beaver Brook was the first of sixteen strategic acquisitions throughout North America.
Epec China was formed. Headquartered in Shenzhen and lead by Wellong Yu, Epec China, has pioneered the global supply chain for engineered products.
